At the Summit, Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the government will not allow India to become a centre for data pilferage. In the backdrop of Cambridge Analytica scam, Minister’s comment once again reinforces the resolve of the centre in protecting the privacy of the citizens.
Ravi Shankar Prasad also said the centre is committed to the freedom of expression but content in social media should not pose any danger to the society. He also stressed that no institution can remain unaccountable, adding that privacy cannot become a shield of corrupt.
The union minister also expressed a word of caution for the unparliamentary language that is often used in expressing the views in the social media and highlighted the need to address the problem.
