Jaswantgarh Land Scam: Woman’s Sister Posed as ‘Fake Gomti’, ₹2 Crore Property Grabbed; BJP Leader Among Six Booked

Udaipur, January 3 (Udaipur Kiran): A major land fraud case has come to light in the Gogunda police station area of Udaipur district, where a land mafia allegedly used political influence to illegally transfer valuable land worth around ₹2 crore. Gogunda police have registered a case of cheating and criminal conspiracy against six accused, including a local leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Jaswantgarh Land Scam

According to the written complaint filed by the victim, Gomti Bai (53), a resident of Brahmanon Ka Kalwana, she holds ancestral land in village Jaswantgarh. Revenue records show that Gomti Bai owns a 1/5 and 1/44 share in the said land. She alleged that land mafia Ashok Kumar Joshi, in collusion with her elder sister Dakhu Bai (60), executed a well-planned conspiracy to grab her share.

As per the complaint, on July 30, 2025, the accused allegedly presented Dakhu Bai as a “fake Gomti Bai” and, using forged documents, got the sale deed of the victim’s land registered in the name of Ashok Joshi. Vishal Joshi and Suresh Chandra Paliwal were shown as witnesses in the disputed registration.

The case also reveals that the victim’s own brothers, Ambalal and Devilal, were allegedly involved in the fraud. On the same day, they executed relinquishment deeds for other jointly held land of the victim (Account No. 270, plots 8 and 9), despite being aware that Dakhu Bai had already relinquished her rights back in 2022. The victim stated that the land, located along the highway, currently has an estimated market value of about ₹2 crore.

The fraud came to light on December 29, 2025, when the victim’s son Jayesh Sharma obtained information from the tehsil office. When confronted, the main accused Ashok Joshi allegedly threatened the victim, claiming political backing and stating that no action could be taken against him as he was a BJP office bearer.

Based on the complaint, Gogunda police have registered a case under Sections 318(4), 338, 340(2), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The investigation has been assigned to Assistant Sub-Inspector Nandlal.
