Apple’s HomeView Smart Display Now Available for Preorder Ahead of November Launch
Apple's first smart display, the HomeView, can now be preordered with a launch date of November 13.

Apple’s HomeView, the company’s inaugural smart home display, is now available for preorder ahead of its official launch on November 13. The device, designed as a central hub for managing household tasks, can be ordered through Amazon.
The HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and is equipped with Siri AI. Users can utilize it for video calls, music playback, and home management. The device recognizes up to six household members, personalizing interactions for each user. According to the company, the display’s design is minimalist and can be customized with various themes, including a rotating family photo slideshow.
There are two models available: a tabletop version that includes a speaker base and a wall-mounted version. Both models retail for $299. The tabletop model provides enhanced audio capabilities due to its additional hardware, while the wall-mounted version may require installation assistance depending on existing home setups.
Competition and Alternatives
Apple enters a competitive market dominated by established products like Amazon’s Echo Show series. While the HomeView is priced higher, its features are positioned to appeal particularly to users of Apple products. The Amazon Echo Show 8, for example, costs $199.99 and offers similar functionalities with a slightly larger screen.
The HomeView’s smaller size and premium price may challenge its acceptance in a market where consumers have many smart display options. The device competes with Google’s Nest Hub, which provides an alternative with a similar screen size and capabilities.
Integration with Apple’s Smart Home Ecosystem
The HomeView is part of Apple’s broader strategy to expand its smart home offerings. Apple has partnered with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to develop smart home products, including cameras and thermostats, expected to launch alongside the HomeView. According to Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of product marketing for home, the HomeView aims to ease the transition for users into adopting more smart home technology.
Drance emphasized the importance of simplicity and privacy, asserting that the Home Collection products support a one-tap setup and protect user data. She noted that the HomeView can be an entry point, encouraging users to explore other Apple smart devices once they experience its ease of use.
As the release date approaches, customers interested in purchasing the HomeView will need to decide between the countertop and wall-mounted options, weighing factors like audio quality and installation requirements.
