Samsung Begins Global Rollout of One UI 9 with Android 17 for Galaxy Devices
Samsung has started rolling out One UI 9 with Android 17 updates to several Galaxy models globally, beginning with the Galaxy A36.

Samsung has begun the global rollout of its One UI 9 update, featuring Android 17, to various Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy S23 series.
This update first launched in South Korea on October 15 and has since reached Europe, with availability in the US expected soon. The One UI 9 update is also being rolled out to other models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The Galaxy A36, part of Samsung’s mid-range lineup, began receiving its stable update on October 19. This update, identified by firmware version A366BXXUCDZIF, has a download size of over 2.3GB and features the September 2026 security patch. Users will need sufficient storage and a stable Wi-Fi connection for installation.
New Features and Compatibility
One UI 9 brings various interface improvements, heightened customization options, and enhanced security features. However, some advanced Galaxy AI features remain exclusive to higher-end devices. According to Android Central, Galaxy A36 users can expect an improved user experience, even if some flagship functionalities are not included.
The Galaxy A56 also received the One UI 9 update with a noteworthy addition: AirDrop compatibility through Quick Share, enabling seamless file transfers between Galaxy and Apple devices. This feature was initially available only on flagship models, but its extension to mid-range devices demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to enhancing user convenience across its product range.
Future Rollouts and Updates
Samsung has consistently been recognized for its timely software updates, expanding its support for OS updates to seven years for its latest flagship devices. This includes the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy S24 series.
While the One UI 9 rollout is currently underway, Samsung is likely to continue releasing updates for other eligible Galaxy phones in the upcoming weeks. Users can check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update on their devices.
“Samsung is expected to release One UI 9 to more eligible Galaxy phones in the coming weeks,” Android Central reported.
