Samsung is reportedly planning to launch its Galaxy S27 series in early January 2027, marking a shift from its traditional mid-January or February schedule. This earlier release aligns with the company’s strategy to compete with rival brands, particularly Apple.

The Galaxy S27 lineup will include the base Galaxy S27, the S27+, and the S27 Ultra, all of which have had their display dimensions leaked. The S27 is expected to have a 6.27-inch screen, while the S27+ will feature a 6.66-inch display, and the S27 Ultra will have a larger 6.89-inch panel. The design of these models will be similar to their predecessors, though the Ultra may come with slightly slimmer bezels.

Specifications and Design Changes

According to various leaks, the S27 Ultra will have some changes compared to the S26 Ultra. The display bezels are rumored to be 1.28mm thick, slightly thicker than the previous model’s 1.15mm bezels. The rear camera bump is expected to increase to 4.69mm, which might be a result of a redesigned camera module that includes a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom.

Samsung has already finalized the major components for the series, including considerations for LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage, especially given that memory prices have been volatile in recent months. The base Galaxy S27 and S27+ will feature the Exynos 2700 processor in most markets except for China and North America, where variations of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip may be utilized for the Pro and Ultra models.

Accessories and Launch Strategy

In addition to the new smartphones, various third-party accessories have already appeared for the Galaxy S27 lineup. Images of screen protectors for the S27 series have emerged, revealing different options including clear and privacy versions.

Feedback from tech enthusiasts suggests anticipation for the S27 Ultra’s new features, with one tipster commenting on the design changes, saying, “the new flagship could feature slightly thicker display bezels.” This reflects a typical cycle of minor adjustments and enhancements that Samsung tends to implement with each new iteration of its flagship series.

As the launch date approaches, interested buyers can expect ongoing updates and insights about the Galaxy S27 series.
