Ahmedabad, May 1: Former Indian cricket team all-rounder Sanjay Bangar has praised West Indies’ star all-rounder Jason Holder, who is playing for Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2026. Bangar described Holder as a key player for GT.
Bangar stated on GeoStar, “An all-rounder like him, especially a foreign fast bowler, enhances the team’s balance while adding strength. His understanding of the game is evident in his control over line and length. You may have noticed that whenever a batsman tried to hit him, he quickly adjusted. He is a very smart cricketer. Having led teams before, he also knows how to finish games. Overall, his arrival at GT is extremely beneficial for the team.”
GT acquired Jason Holder for ₹7 crore in the IPL 2026 auction, expecting his bowling and batting abilities to bring balance to the team, and he is clearly fulfilling that role.
In a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium on Thursday, Holder delivered an impressive performance with both bat and ball, playing a crucial role in the team’s victory and earning the Player of the Match award. He took 2 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs and scored 12 runs off 10 balls during his batting stint.
So far in the season, Holder has played 3 matches, taking 3 wickets and scoring 35 runs in 2 innings. GT currently stands fifth in the points table with 10 points from 5 wins in 9 matches. Holder’s role could be pivotal in determining how the team performs in the next 5 matches and whether they qualify for the playoffs.
Holder is seen as a replacement for Hardik Pandya in GT.
