BEIRUT: Israel launched an airstrike early on Thursday morning on the Health Authority Center, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, in the al-Bachoura area, downtown Beirut, causing a massive fire, local al-Jadeed TV reported.

TV footage showed heavy black smoke rising from the building.
The airstrike resulted in major damage to houses and parked vehicles in the locality. Ambulances and civil defence teams rushed to the area for rescue.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said at least five people were killed in the airstrike in the al-Bachoura area.
The TV channel reported three strong airstrikes against the Haret Hreik area in Beirut’s southern suburbs, shortly before the strike in central Beirut.
