Ujjain, March 11 – The sacred Holika Dahan ritual at the revered Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple will take place on March 13 after the evening Aarti, while the festival of Dhulandi will be celebrated with traditional fervor on March 14. As per the temple traditions, Lord Mahakaleshwar will be offered herbal gulal and adorned with a garland of sugar before the evening Aarti. Following the Aarti, the Holika Dahan ceremony will be conducted in front of the Omkareshwar Temple within the temple premises.

Traditional Dhulandi Celebrations at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple
On the morning of March 14, during the auspicious Bhasma Aarti at 4:00 AM, the priests and temple purohits will offer herbal gulal to Lord Mahakaleshwar, marking the commencement of Dhulandi celebrations. Change in Aarti Timings from March 15 as per Temple Traditions
As per temple administrator Pratham Kaushik, from March 15, 2025, the schedule of Aartis at Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga will be revised in accordance with Chaitra Krishna Pratipada to Ashwin Purnima traditions. The modified Aarti schedule will be as follows:
- First Bhasma Aarti: 04:00 AM – 06:00 AM
- Second Dadyodak Aarti: 07:00 AM – 07:45 AM
- Third Bhog Aarti: 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM
- Fourth Sandhya Poojan: 05:00 PM – 05:45 PM
- Fifth Sandhya Aarti: 07:00 PM – 07:45 PM
- Shayan Aarti (Night Aarti): 10:30 PM – 11:00 PM
