Udaipur : In a shocking incident, an on-duty head constable was killed after he faced attack by some unidentified men while he was on duty in Brar gram panchayat area of Bhim in Rajsamand district on Saturday evening. Abdul Gani, the 45 year old head constable, posted at Bhim police station had gone for spot investigation in an assault related case. He was attacked with sticks, rods by some men who fled away. Some villagers spotted the cop and informed the police. Gani who was rushed to the government hospital succumbed to injuries while treatement, his body has been kept at the mortuary. Gani hailed from Jahajpur in Bhilwara and his family has been informed of his death, police said.
“We do not have any details other than that Abdul was on duty and had gone for a case enquiry. He was attacked severely by sticks and rods and sustained serious injuries. The incident took place around 5pm, whether the people who are named in the case that Gani was investigating had attacked him or whether they were some other group is yet not known” LabhuRam, SHO, Bhim police station told Udaipur Kiran. The incident has come as a big shock for the police department and the authorities rushed to the hospital after the death was announced.
