Yellow Alert in Nine More Districts

Cloudy conditions are also prevailing in and around Jind and Kaithal. Thunderstorms, lightning and sudden strong winds may affect visibility on roads. Motorists have been advised to drive carefully.

The weather department has also issued a yellow alert for nine other districts: Rewari, Mahendragarh, Charkhi Dadri, Rohtak, Kaithal, Jind, Kurukshetra, Ambala and Panchkula.

These areas may receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds.

Intermittent drizzle in Faridabad, Narnaul, Panchkula, Karnal and several other places on Thursday had already changed weather conditions across the state. Persistent cloud cover and moisture have brought the average daytime temperature down by around 5.8 degrees Celsius below normal, resulting in a noticeable chill even during the afternoon.

Moisture from Bay of Bengal to Keep Weather Unsettled

Dr Madan Khichad, Chief Meteorologist at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, attributed the changing weather to a sudden shift in wind direction.

According to him, north-easterly winds replaced the dry north-westerly winds from October 29. Moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal are also entering the plains of Haryana due to a cyclonic influence.

The combined effect of moisture and a western disturbance is likely to continue until October 31. Scientists have indicated that scattered to heavy rainfall may occur in different parts of the state until Saturday.

Night temperatures may rise slightly during this period, while the chill is expected to become more noticeable during the morning and evening hours.
