Udaipur, March 29: A special workshop under the ‘Grow Green Initiative’ was successfully organized at Hotel Radisson, bringing together students, environmentalists, artists, and prominent citizens in a collective pledge to preserve water and the environment. The workshop was a joint effort by Kashti Foundation, Sandys Travel Tales, and Hotel Radisson.

Everyone’s Responsibility: Start From Home, Says Dr. Satish Sharma
Renowned environmentalist and retired Assistant Forest Conservator Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, the keynote speaker, emphasized that environmental protection is not just the government’s duty—it begins at home. He urged everyone to plant at least five trees during their lifetime, ideally on personal occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or festivals.
“High-rise buildings are blocking natural airflow, and indiscriminate deforestation is reducing green cover, causing early heatwaves even during spring,” he said, while cautioning against the effects of global warming and climate change due to rapid industrialization.
Empowering Future Generations Through Education
Kashti Foundation President Shraddha Murdia, presiding over the event, called for greater awareness through students. She proposed conducting quarterly environmental workshops to educate and empower young minds on ecological issues threatening the planet and future generations.
Hotel Radisson’s Vice President Ankush Kathwal, in his presentation, shared how their institution is working to create a plastic-free environment by adopting eco-friendly practices and promoting green living through the “Grow Green Initiative.”
Unique Insights into Nature’s Wonders
The audience, especially the students, were captivated as Dr. Sharma shared rare insights about birds like the Weaver Bird, House Swift, Wire-tailed Swallow, Grey Hornbill, and reptiles like the Monitor Lizard, along with mysterious flora such as the Ghost Tree. His storytelling left the audience spellbound and sparked a lively Q&A session with eager students.
Environmental Data & Alarming Trends
Workshop moderator and Additional Director at Police Headquarters, Dr. Kamlesh Sharma, shared startling facts about 2024 being the hottest year recorded in 123 years, with the average temperature rising 0.65°C above the historical average. He encouraged adopting trees’ silent service to nature as an example for humans to follow in conservation.
