Udaipur witnesses a historic and unique religious event as the nine-day Mahalaxmi Koti Kunkumarchan Puja Yagna Mahotsav commenced on Sunday, marked by the resonant beats of drums, conch shells, and devotional fervour.
Under the guidance of Jagadguru Vasant Vijayanand Giri Ji, the festival is a grand and divine congregation of faith and culture, held at a beautifully decorated venue near Magnus Hospital in Meera Nagar, resembling a heavenly abode.
The festival inauguration began at 11 am with the auspicious blessings of Jagadguru Vasant Vijayanand Giri Ji Maharaj, accompanied by traditional rituals, puja, and the start of spiritual practices.
From 2 pm onwards, the unique and sacred Mahalaxmi Mahayagna commenced, featuring a 21-kundiya havan conducted by 135 scholars from Kashi, chanting mantras under the revered guru’s presence. Thousands of kilograms of pure sandalwood, cow ghee, assorted dry fruits, natural herbs, and fragrant sacred materials are offered daily, aiming to establish the Mahalaxmi Samriddhi Kalash with one crore kumkum archana offerings. Participants are encouraged to wear white kurta-pajama for men and red sarees for women during the yagna.
Each evening at 8 pm, Jagadguru Vasant Vijayanand Giri Ji Maharaj elaborates on the divine glory of Eklingnath Ji, the revered deity of Mewar, followed by the recitation of the Shiva Mahapurana, continuing daily until 11 pm. Additionally, from 5 pm to 9 pm, devotees are served prasad as part of the daily langar.
The festival attracts devotees and dignitaries from across the country, making Udaipur a vibrant centre of spiritual devotion and cultural heritage.
On Saturday evening, Jagadguru Vasant Vijayanand Giri Ji Maharaj paid homage to Maharana Eklingnath Ji and formally dedicated the invitation booklet for the festival at the temple premises after performing elaborate rituals and a grand aarti, drawing a large crowd eager for his darshan.
The main festival site features magnificent statues of various deities sourced from the Padmavati Shakti Peeth in Tamil Nadu, creating a celestial atmosphere that captivates visitors. A grand statue of Maharana Pratap is also a key attraction, alongside several other remarkable installations for devotees.
In a meeting held on Friday night at the festival venue, Jagadguru Vasant Vijayanand Giri Ji Maharaj addressed representatives from various communities, urging them to actively participate and promote the event. He emphasized the significance of faith, positive thinking, and unity for success and spiritual growth.
The Jagadguru encouraged attendees to maintain honesty, trust, love, and courage, assuring that those destined for spiritual merit will benefit from the grand yagna and associated activities. Representatives were entrusted with the responsibility to invite their communities to partake in the puja, yagna, and spiritual discourses.
