The Google Pixel 9 series has been confirmed to launch in India a day after the global launch event for the ‘Made by Google’ hardware. The flagship lineup is said to include four models, including the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which were previously announced as successors to last year’s Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Fold. It has been confirmed to be sold via Flipkart in Japan. Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be Google’s first foldable model to be launched in the Indian market.

Flipkart has created a special microsite to announce the arrival of the Pixel 9 series in India. Sales of these devices will begin on August 23 in the country. Although the listing only mentions the Pixel 9 series, the poster introduces the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel 9 Pro models. This listing confirms that it is being sold through an e-commerce website. Google has announced Flipkart as its exclusive retail partner for the launch of the Pixel 8 series, similar to its previous smartphone models.
Google is hosting its next Made by Google event in global markets, including the US, on August 13 to unveil its latest line of Pixel devices. The brand is expected to announce the phone’s India pricing and availability details on August 14. Future lineups are expected to include the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, as well as the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold have already been listed on Google’s India website, where users can sign up to receive updates on the upcoming phones and their availability.
The launch of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in India marks Google’s first foldable device in the country. The tech giant’s first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, is limited to select global markets. It is said that this phone comes with a 42-megapixel selfie camera. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is likely to come with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel main camera, a 10.5-megapixel sensor, and a 10.8-megapixel sensor. A 10-megapixel front camera is expected to be offered for selfies and video chats.
