Gang Rivalry Sparks Firing in Udaipur

Udaipur, May 21 (Udaipur Kiran) — Panic gripped the Hathipol area of Udaipur after six miscreants allegedly opened fire on three youths late on Wednesday night in a suspected gang rivalry incident.

According to police, the attack took place around 11 pm outside Arwana Mall near Peepli Chowk at Hathipol crossing. The accused arrived on three motorcycles and allegedly fired three rounds at Salman, Mohsin and Nazim. Along with firing, knife attacks were also reported during the incident.

Salman suffered a bullet injury to his back, while Mohsin was attacked with a knife. Nazim reportedly managed to escape from the spot. After carrying out the attack, the accused fled the area.

Police said names linked to the gang of hardcore criminal Imran Kunjda have surfaced in the investigation. Hathipol police station officer Raju Devi said the incident appears to be related to old rivalry. CCTV footage from the area is being examined and efforts are underway to arrest the accused at the earliest.

Family members of the injured created a protest-like situation at the hospital and expressed anger against the police administration. Women relatives alleged that lack of strict police action against criminals had encouraged such incidents. They warned that continued inaction could lead to further conflict.

The firing spot is located nearly 250 metres from Hathipol police station. Despite police presence in the nearby area, the accused allegedly carried out the attack without fear.

Police said names including Karan Sen, Hussain, Idris and Chhotu have emerged during the investigation.

Following the incident, police imposed barricading and checking at several locations across the city. Security deployment continued at major intersections till early morning as teams questioned commuters and verified suspicious persons while tracing the accused.
