Jaipur, March 4 – A shocking incident of robbery and hostage-taking sent shockwaves through the Vidyadhar Nagar area on Monday night when a newly appointed domestic help, along with two accomplices, tied up a woman and looted gold and silver jewelry worth ₹1.50 crore before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the location and began analyzing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and trace the culprits.

The Shocking Heist at Ambabari Residence
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat, the burglary took place at the residence of Jyoti Agarwal, a resident of Ambabari, Vidyadhar Nagar. Initial investigations revealed that Jyoti was alone at home, as other family members were away due to work commitments.
Taking advantage of the situation, Ashok, the newly hired domestic help, called two of his associates to the house. The gang executed the crime with chilling precision, holding Jyoti at knife-point and threatening her. When she resisted, the assailants attacked her with a knife, inflicting injuries before overpowering her.
The criminals then proceeded to ransack the house, breaking into the wardrobe and locker where gold and silver ornaments worth ₹1.50 crore were stored. After looting the valuables, the assailants fled the crime scene, leaving Jyoti injured and in distress.
A Desperate Cry for Help
Despite being wounded and immobilized, Jyoti somehow managed to alert her family members, who immediately notified the police. Law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene promptly and arranged for Jyoti’s medical treatment while initiating a forensic investigation.
The police have also launched an extensive search operation using CCTV surveillance footage to track down the suspects.
Planned Execution: How the Robbery Unfolded
Further inquiries revealed that Jyoti’s husband, Devendra Agarwal, runs a hardware and sanitary store in New Atish Market, and the household had hired Ashok, a native of Madhubani, Bihar, just a day before the crime.
Ashok meticulously planned the heist, summoning his two accomplices to the residence while Jyoti was engaged in prayers at a home temple. The criminals silenced her by forcefully covering her mouth with a towel, restraining her hands and feet, and forcing her onto the floor.
One of the robbers broke open the locker, extracting the valuable ornaments, while another attacked Jyoti with a knife when she attempted to resist.
Swift Police Action and Ongoing Investigation
Jyoti’s cries for help were eventually heard by her brother-in-law, who lived nearby. Upon arriving at the scene, he untied her and immediately contacted the police.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was deployed to gather crucial evidence, and authorities are now focusing on apprehending the suspects before they flee the city.
Tracking the Culprits: Police Surveillance and Manhunt
According to police sources, Ashok was seen limping, a detail that could aid in his identification. It is suspected that the gang had arrived on foot to avoid detection.
Given Ashok’s background, it is believed that he might attempt to escape to Bihar using trains, buses, or private transport. Consequently, the police have tightened security at bus terminals and railway stations while conducting search operations across the city.
