Computer operator in education office arrested for taking 5K bribe

Udaipur : The ACB sleuths on Monday arrested a computer operator posted at the District Education Office (elementary) here for taking a bribe of 5 thousand rupees from the complainant. Sarita Tripathi, the accused was pressuring the complainant to pay the bribe money for releasing a payment of some 50 thousand rupees due to him from the office against admissions under the RTE norms.

Additional SP Sudhir Joshi said Sarita daughter of Shashikant Tripathi had been working in the education office for three years as a computer operator. The complainant Rajendra Kumar runs a private school in Kherwada block where children from the under privileged sections too study under the RTE provisions. A payment of approximately 50 thousand rupees was due to be released from the education office against those admissions.

Sarita had been pressurising Rajendra to pay her 5000 rupees for releasing the payment and she even threatened him that his school’s affiliation would be terminated if he didn’t pay the bribe money. The ACB verified the complaint and found it to be true. Inspector Harish Chandra Chundawat and team went to the DEO office at Madhuban where they caught the accused red handed after taking the money.
