Udaipur, October 7 (Udaipur Kiran): A political confrontation broke out in Udaipur on Monday night during the event of Urban Development and Local Self-Government Minister Jhabar Singh Khara, after a Youth Congress worker was allegedly beaten up by BJP members for attempting to show black flags in protest.

The incident occurred around 8 PM during the inauguration ceremony of decorative poles and streetlights between Bhuvana Circle and Pratap Nagar Circle. According to reports, Youth Congress leader Armaan Jain arrived at the spot to raise objections over the removal of martyr Abhinav Nagauri’s name, when BJP workers accused him of planning to show black flags and allegedly assaulted him.
Police soon intervened and took Armaan Jain and two others into custody. The situation escalated as Congress workers gathered outside the Sukher Police Station, staging a sit-in protest till 3 AM demanding Armaan’s release and action against BJP members involved in the assault.
During the protest, City Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore said, “Armaan Jain was protesting peacefully against the removal of a martyr’s name. Assaulting him is undemocratic. Everyone has the right to express their opinion in a democracy.” He alleged that the police acted under BJP government pressure, detaining the victim instead of the attackers.
Former Vallabhnagar MLA Preeti Gajendra Singh Shaktawat demanded an FIR against BJP city president Gajpal Singh Rathore, accusing him of leading the assault. Prominent Congress leaders including Ajay Porwal, Arun Tank, Shanta Prince, Gopal Nagar, and Siddharth Soni joined the protest.
Protesters dispersed only after police confirmed that a complaint had been registered and an inquiry initiated against Gajpal Singh Rathore.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra strongly condemned the incident on social media platform X, stating that BJP workers acted like “goons in front of a government minister” and called the police action “completely unacceptable.” He demanded immediate release of Youth Congress workers and registration of an FIR against the BJP district president and those responsible for the attack.
