Can I pay my bills using Paytm Fastag even after the March 15 deadline: The answer is yes. Here’s how and why

Paytm Payments Bank has started migrating users to other banks to enable financial services on the Paytm app as per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. To clarify the situation for users, Paytm has released a detailed FAQ in response to the migration process.

Frequently asked questions also include Paytm Fastag account details, minimum amount and refund details. One of the questions that many users have is whether they can continue to use Paytm Fastag to pay tolls or not. The issue gained significance after NHAI delisted Paytm from the list of Fastag issuers in February.

The answer is yes, but conditions apply

According to the Paytm FAQ page, Paytm Fastag users can use the amount in their Fastag wallet to pay tolls during their journey. This means that if the balance remains in your Fastag wallet and is sufficient to pay the fees, the payment will be completed.

Since the RBI has banned Paytm Payments Bank from accepting deposits, there is no way to recharge Fastags issued by Paytm. paytm Fastag will continue to function after March 15 while stocks last.

However, what the user should keep in mind is the following

Although you can pay using Fastags issued by Paytm, we advise you to stop using them and instead apply for a refund. Because if you don’t have enough money in your Fastag wallet while driving, you’ll get stuck and end up paying double the toll.

Quick tags are not transferable

Last week, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issued an advisory to Paytm Fastag users asking them to deactivate their Paytm Fastag and get a new Fastag from an authorized Fastag issuer.

However, Paytm and RBI have clarified that FastAG, including the balance, is non-transferable. Users need to deactivate it and request a refund of the minimum balance and deposit.

How to get a refund

To get a refund, users can go to Paytm App → Help & Support → Fastag → Chat → Deactivate and Request Refund.
