Udaipur, March 9 (Udaipur Kiran): A block-level swimming talent search programme began in the district on Monday under the Panch Gaurav Programme, an initiative launched by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to identify and encourage sporting talent. The programme is being organised under the aegis of the district administration and the Sports Training Centre.

In the first phase, block-level swimming competitions were held in Girwa, Rishabhdev, Kherwara and Nayagaon, where young swimmers showcased their talent and enthusiasm.
District Sports Officer Dr Mahesh Paliwal said that the Girwa block competition was organised at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, Udaipur, under the guidance of trainers Sunil Kumawat, Dharmveer Singh Ranawat and Ranveer Singh Ranawat. Talented swimmers from different areas, brought by block in-charges Dinesh Damor, Sanjay Pandya and Omkar Lal Meena, participated enthusiastically.
The winners included Sanyam Meena, Tanush Saxena, Virendra Kumar Meena, Saurabh Sen, Arun Meena, Himmat Kumar Meena, Aarav Choubisa, Rajkumar Meena, Arjun Meena, Rajveer Singh Chauhan, Madan Gairi, Kartik Gurjar, Devagya Raj Soni and Alia Saxena. All the swimmers were awarded medals and mementoes.
Meanwhile, swimming competitions for Rishabhdev, Kherwara and Nayagaon blocks were held at the swimming pool of Atithi Palace Hotel in Kherwara. The Rishabhdev event began at 10 am, where Sanjay Meena, Sheela Meena, Peepli A, Rion Bhagora, Shantilal Meena and Kalpana Meena won gold medals. Silver medals were secured by Seema Meena, Sushila Meena, Peepli A, Gaurav Meena, Rishabh Meena and Ravi Prakash Meena, while bronze medals went to Ayush Meena Peepli A, Naman Meena, Govind Meena, Ashiq Meena and Ritika Meena.
The Kherwara competition started at 12 noon. Madhu Meena, Avinash Meena and Kalpana won gold medals, while Shilpa Sandeep, Sangeeta and Rashi secured silver medals. Bronze medals were won by Nipika, Ashok, Primal, Priyanka Ahari, Ankita and Sheetal.
The Nayagaon competition began at 2 pm, where Ravilal, Akshay, Alpesh, Pooja and Sonia won gold medals. Shamil, Vijay, Rakesh and Kajal secured silver medals, while bronze medals were won by Aryan Baranda, Sanjay and Satyam.
Social worker Paras Jain attended the event as the chief guest, while Bhudhar Sarpanch Badri Lal Bhagora presided over the programme. Radheshyam Suthar was present as special guest. The competitions were judged by Bharat Bhushan Joshi, Laxmanlal Baranda, Surya Khokhariya, Laluram Meena, Avinash Meena, Reena Damor, Roshan Gamar, Prabhulal Kharadi and Lalshankar Meena, while Bahadur Singh Meena was present as team in-charge.
Competition in Jhadol on Tuesday
Dr Paliwal said that under the talent search programme, competitions for Kotra, Jhadol and Phalasia blocks will be organised in Jhadol on March 10. On March 11, events for Gogunda, Sayra, Devla and Badgaon blocks will be held in Gogunda, while the fourth phase will take place in Bhatevar on March 12 for Mavli, Vallabhnagar, Bhinder and Kurabad blocks.
Selected participants will attend a 15-day residential training camp from March 13 to 28 at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, Udaipur, where expert trainers will provide special coaching.
