Japanese gaming giant Sony recently unveiled its latest console called PlayStation 5 Slim for the Indian market. The latest version of the PS5 console is set to go on sale across the country starting today (April 5) at 10am.
Not only is it available at multiple retail stores in the country, Sony has also partnered with Zomato’s e-commerce platform Blinkit to deliver the console straight to your doorstep. The company also confirmed that the latest console will also be available on its app.
The company’s CEO Arvinder Dhindsa also announced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that customers can order both versions of the PS5 Slim console through the app. Once ordered, Blinkit plans to deliver the new console to the customer’s doorstep within 10 minutes (as stated on the label).
PS5 Slim: price and other details
The new PS5 model will be available in digital and disc versions for Rs 44,990 and Rs 54,990 respectively.
The redesigned PS5 console not only offers more storage space and a more compact design, but also features the same hardware as the standard console.
Sony has reduced the overall volume of the new console by 30% and its weight by 24% compared to existing models.
The modular design of the latest console allows users to easily upgrade. In addition to the PS5 Slim models, Sony also offers the possibility to add a disk drive as an accessory to the digital version.
Both PS5 Slim versions have 1TB of internal storage, which is significantly more than the 825GB offered in the current models.
These new consoles support expanding internal storage with external SSDs and have four separate enclosures instead of the current model’s two. The latest overlays have a glossy surface on top and a matte surface on the bottom.
PS5 Slim models have two sockets on the side, and for connectivity, the latest consoles have two USB-C ports on the front. This replaces the separate USB-C and USB-A ports on current PS5 models.
