Udaipur, May 29 (Udaipur Kiran) – BJP leader Anil Jaroli was arrested on Thursday in connection with a case of assault and attempt to rape registered at Ghantaghar police station. Police detained the accused from his resort located behind Celebration Mall in Udaipur.

Police said the accused is being questioned and will be produced before the court on Friday.
The accused had been avoiding arrest in the case for a long time after obtaining relief from the High Court. However, around 10 days after the stay on his arrest was removed, police carried out the action and arrested him.
According to police, the case dates back to June 5, 2025, when a BJP woman leader lodged a complaint against Anil Jaroli at Ghantaghar police station. In her complaint, she alleged that the accused entered her house, assaulted her, behaved indecently and attempted to rape her.
The matter had earlier created controversy between the then Ghantaghar CI Sunil Sharma and then SP Yogesh Goyal regarding action in the case. Following alleged delay in police action, members of the Udaipur Bar Association also staged a protest at the Collectorate demanding action.
Police said the accused had also filed a complaint at Savina police station, alleging a financial dispute involving the BJP woman leader and her husband, but the complaint was later found to be false during investigation.
To avoid arrest, the accused had approached the High Court and obtained a stay. After the stay was recently lifted, police initiated action in the case.
The victim later met the SP and demanded action against the accused. Following this, the SP ordered a fresh investigation and directed police to take appropriate action. Ten days later, police arrested Anil Jaroli.
