Amethi (UP) : Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday held Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accountable for inflation and unemployment and said that the BJP government, which was well wisher of the capitalist, did nothing to improve the financial condition of the poor.
Addressing a public meeting, Priyanka said, “Despite there being the BJP government at the center and the state, unemployment has emerged as a complicated problem in Uttar Pradesh. Here recruitment on 12 lakh vacant posts in the government have not been filled, does the state government can’t see the unemployed. I meet unemployed youths in every meeting.” On the one hand, the government has remained careless on the appointments on government posts, on the other hand big government companies are being sold,” she said.
Referring to demonetisation and GST, Priyanka said that small businesses closed due to this which directly affected the common people. “During Covid pandemic the government left the public as destitute. Farmers are under distress. In Bundelkhand farmers are dying while standing in the queue for fertilizer. They are committing suicide, but the government is not paying any attention towards them,” she said.
Attacking the Prime Minister, she said that four-five days back addressing a rally the PM said that he came to know about the problem of stray animals today itself, whereas Congress had been writing letters to the government. “I had been saying this since 2019 when I came to UP,” she said.
Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka said, “When Trump coughs in America you come to know about that, but you’re not getting information about the problem of stray animals and the plight of the farmers,” she said. On inflation, she said that today mustard oil is being sold at the rate of Rs 240 per liter.
“One day earning a worker in Rs 250 means he can’t buy even one liter of oil from the daily earnings. Prices of diesel, petrol and gas are sky-rocketing,” she said. Priyanka said, “Select industrial houses which are friends of BJP are earning Rs 1000 crore every day, whereas a farmer finds it difficult to earn even Rs 27 and you are saying that you are unaware of the problems of the farmers.”
