Balu Bhil Community Takes Important Decisions for Social Welfare
Udaipur: A meeting of the Balu Bhil Vikas Samiti, Balicha, was held today at the Badbadeshwar Mahadev Temple. Tribal leaders from the tehsils of Girwa, Badgaon, Gogunda, Nathdwara, Rajsamand, and Mavli participated in the gathering. Members from the committee’s home village of Balicha were also present.

The meeting began with a welcome and felicitation of the guests who came from outside. The session was presided over by the committee’s patron, Meghraj Maharaj.
Need for Social Reform and Community Unity
Committee President Tejram Gameti spoke about the purpose of the Samiti’s formation. He stated that there is an urgent need for reform in the tribal community. Most people depend on daily wage labour for survival, but their sources of livelihood are shrinking. He pointed out the severe lack of education and the widespread malnutrition among children. He emphasised that the community must come together to find solutions to these issues.
Land Concerns Raised by Community Members
In the meeting, Shri Devilal Dana expressed concern over land issues. He mentioned that many tribal people are cultivating land without having legal ownership, and now that land has been transferred under the name of UDA. He warned that the people could be removed at any time, and highlighted the need for collective action on this matter.
Calls for Ending Alcoholism and Promoting Group Marriages
Spiritual leaders Shankar Nath Maharaj and Ganesh Ji Maharaj also attended the meeting. They shared their views on social reform and stated that if the community wants to progress, it must work to eliminate the problem of alcohol addiction. They also suggested focusing on organising collective weddings.
Challenges of Organising the Community
Addressing the gathering, Meghraj Maharaj said that organising the community is a very difficult task. He remarked that political forces have divided the community, which has led to people being unaware of their own welfare and direction.
Legal Perspective and Youth Participation
Advocate Ramesh Nandwana also shared his views on the need for unity. He urged the youth to step forward to improve their access to resources and to forget minor disputes in favour of progress.
Strong Attendance from Committee Members
The meeting was attended by around 200 people, including key committee office bearers: Treasurer Mangilal, Vice President Shyamlal, Sports Minister Ganesh, Organisation Minister Tulsiram, Publicity Minister Ganesh Lal, and members Mohanlal, Ravi, Puna, Nanuram, and Dharm Narayan.
