New Delhi, May 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Sweden is being hailed as a historic step that elevates India-Sweden relations in the fields of Ayurveda, wellness, and overall health. Stina Anderson, Chairperson of the Ayurveda Sweden Association, described the visit as a significant opportunity to mainstream Ayurveda in Sweden and across Europe.
In an exclusive conversation, Anderson expressed her excitement about meeting Prime Minister Modi, stating, “It was a wonderful experience. This is a big step for Sweden, especially for Ayurveda. I believe it opens up great opportunities for Indian practitioners and doctors to share their knowledge in Sweden, while also allowing Swedish people to learn more by visiting India. Establishing cooperation agreements makes it easier to understand Ayurveda from a Nordic perspective, which is quite different from India.”
Anderson emphasized that 80% of diseases today are lifestyle-related, and Ayurveda offers excellent solutions to these issues. “Without good health, we cannot contribute effectively to the world. Ayurveda is a profound science that India has preserved for centuries. Now, Sweden is ready for it as well,” she added.
She also discussed integrating Ayurveda with modern technologies such as AI and nanotechnology, suggesting that attention should first be given to daily routines and diets according to the weather, allowing the body to maintain natural balance.
Describing Ayurveda as both affordable and effective, Anderson noted, “Ayurveda makes health economical as it emphasizes treatment through daily routines. When we integrate it with modern medicine, it positively impacts the economy.”
Praising Prime Minister Modi, she remarked, “He is one of the few leaders in the world with a clear vision for the future. Today, the global healthcare system faces numerous crises, making Ayurveda more necessary than ever.”
Jan-Olof Jacke, Director General of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, expressed pride in Prime Minister Modi’s visit, stating, “Sweden is an innovative and developed country, but it is small. India has a talented young population and a rapidly growing market.”
Jacke presented a report on the EU-India FTA agreement to the Prime Minister, highlighting that this agreement will open new trade opportunities for both parties. He stressed the importance of simplifying processes and making customs more accessible.
