Awareness Program on Three New Criminal Laws, Surya Ghar Scheme, and Cyber Crime

New Criminal Laws

Udaipur :The Regional Office of the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organized an awareness program at the seminar hall of Pacific University on Tuesday. The program focused on three new criminal laws, the Sampoornata Abhiyan, and the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, the chief guest, stated that the three new laws notified by the central government—the Indian Justice Code, the Indian Civil Protection Code, and the Indian Evidence Code—will completely transform the criminal justice system.

Presiding over the event, Rajya Sabha MP Chunnilal Garasia noted the rise in cybercrime and emphasized the need for government laws to combat it. He urged the youth to stay educated and vigilant to avoid falling victim to such crimes. He also called for coordinated efforts to disseminate welfare schemes to the general public.

The main speaker, Additional Sessions Judge and Legal Services Authority Secretary Kuldeep Sharma, provided detailed information on the three new laws. He explained that the main objective of these laws is to redefine various crimes and determine punishments, thus overhauling the country’s criminal justice system. The central government has issued a notification to implement these laws from July 1, 2024. Following the notification issued on February 23, the current British-era laws—the Indian Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the 1872 Indian Evidence Act—will be abolished as of the set date.

Assistant Director of the Central Bureau of Communication, Rameshwar Lal Meena, welcomed the guests and highlighted the objectives of the program. He provided details on the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, explaining that the goal of the scheme is to install solar panels in one crore homes, thereby reducing or eliminating electricity costs. This scheme will benefit poor and middle-class families with an income of less than 2 lakhs per annum, offering 300 units of free electricity each month.

Sanjay Joshi, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department, mentioned that the NITI Aayog launched a three-month Sampoornata Abhiyan from July 4 to September 30, 2024. The aim is to achieve completion in six key indicators across aspirational districts and blocks nationwide.

During the program, guests planted trees under the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign. The event was attended by more than three hundred students and faculty members, including BP Sharma, Prof. Hemant Kothari, Dr. Pushpa Mehndu, Dr. Bindu Lauda, Dr. Manoj Joshi, Dhruval Shah, Pooja Sisodia, Praveen Kausar, Ram Paliwal, and Rameshwar Nagda from the Pacific Group.
