Udaipur : An ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) of Bhainsrorgarh police station in Chittorgarh district has been suspended for allegedly taking a bribe. The complainant made a video of him taking the bribe and presented it to the Chittorgarh ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau).
The case was registered after the complainant’s minor niece went missing. The investigation was being conducted by ASI Premram Jat. During the investigation, it was found that the complainant’s nephew had enticed and taken away the minor. A case was registered under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and the investigation was handed over to the Bhainsrorgarh SHO (Station House Officer). The accused was arrested and sent to jail.
ASI Premram demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 in exchange for making the case lighter, not beating the accused, and destroying evidence. He agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 40,000. On February 7, when the complainant went to give the bribe to the ASI, he made a video of the entire transaction on his mobile phone.
The ACB team went to Bhainsrorgarh police station after receiving the video, but ASI Premram was not found there. A case was registered against him for accepting a bribe.
