Jaipur, May 30: A significant change in Rajasthan’s weather has been triggered by a moisture-laden system moving in from the Arabian Sea. The resulting cloudy skies, strong winds, and scattered rainfall across multiple districts brought much-needed relief from the intense summer heat. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this pattern is expected to persist for another two to three days.
Gusty Winds, Rain Lash Several Districts
On Thursday, many parts of the state including Barmer, Bikaner, Sikar, Jaisalmer, and Karauli experienced strong winds and rainfall. Barmer witnessed heavy rain for nearly an hour in the evening, causing waterlogging at Vivekananda Circle, where even car wheels were submerged. In one incident, a tree collapsed onto a house, while a tent flew off and landed near a mobile tower due to the high-speed winds.
In Ramdevra (Jaisalmer), gusty winds blew away tin roofs from roadside shops. In Shri Mahaveerji (Karauli district), a child suffered head and shoulder injuries after concrete slabs fell from a building. Dust storms significantly reduced visibility in Nadoti and Gudha Chandaji regions.
Similar conditions were reported in Hindaun City and Sikar, where tin roofs from houses and shops were ripped off by the storm. Residents faced disruptions to daily life and property damage in several areas.
Temperatures Drop Across the State
The thunderstorms brought a noticeable drop in temperatures, with many districts recording a 3–4°C decline. In Barmer, the maximum temperature fell by 4 degrees to 40.3°C. However, Sri Ganganagar remained the hottest at 45.3°C.
Cities like Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Alwar, Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Pali, Sirohi, Pratapgarh, Jalore, and Udaipur all reported maximum temperatures below 40°C. Udaipur recorded 34.4°C, Sirohi 33.8°C, and Pratapgarh 35°C.
Forecast: More Rain and Winds Ahead
The IMD forecasts that the effect of this Arabian Sea weather system will continue over the next 2–3 days. While the drop in temperature may offer short-term relief from the heat, strong winds and rain could disrupt normal life in affected areas.
