Bhopal, June 1: Contrary to initial concerns following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, this year’s Amarnath Yatra 2025 is witnessing unprecedented enthusiasm and a surge in registrations. Thanks to the success of Operation Sindoor and strong retaliatory action led by the Indian Armed Forces under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, public confidence in the security of the pilgrimage has been restored.

Record-Breaking Pilgrimage Expected Despite Shorter Duration
The upcoming pilgrimage is scheduled from July 3 to August 9, spanning 37 days—15 days shorter than last year’s 52-day schedule. Nevertheless, ground-level reports suggest that the number of pilgrims could surpass 5.12 lakh, breaking previous attendance records. The devotion and determination of the yatris are overwhelming, with registration numbers rising daily across states.
Operation Sindoor Sparks Renewed Confidence
Speaking to various stakeholders in the tourism and religious travel sector, the sentiment has shifted dramatically since the Pahalgam incident. Sharad Jain, president of HariOm ShivShakti Amarnath Seva Mandal in Bhopal, shared that the number of devotees registering for the yatra has more than doubled after Operation Sindoor. “We’ve already completed online registrations for over 200 devotees. People who were hesitant are now voluntarily coming forward,” Jain noted.
Similarly, Ram Bharoj Yadav, head of the Baba Amarnath Seva Mandal in Sehore, confirmed that over 300 pilgrims have registered from his district. Thousands more are expected to leave for Jammu by Malwa Express starting June 28. Due to overwhelming demand, the Mandal has requested additional coaches from the Western Railway’s Ratlam division to accommodate the rush.
Tourism Sector Witnessing a Revival
Tourism companies have also experienced a revival. Purnima Sharma, who handles international clients for a Delhi-based firm, stated, “While initial bookings dropped due to the terror attack, confidence is returning fast. We’re expecting turnout to match or even exceed last year.”
Gangesh Gunjan, Assistant Manager at Indian Holiday, added, “Amarnath is not just a trip; it’s an emotional and spiritual journey. Our company has received bookings from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, and several southern states. The initial lull is over.”
He explained that their travel packages cater to NRI pilgrims and include air travel, helicopter services, hotel stays, and guided tours through safer routes via Pahalgam, ensuring minimal exposure to harsh weather and terrain.
International Bookings Likely to Pick Up
Mandeep Singh, another tour operator, acknowledged that while foreign registrations have been slower post-attack, they are expected to rise closer to the yatra’s start. “The strong security measures taken by the government have reassured potential travelers,” he said.
He credited the Modi government for restoring faith, especially with Home Minister Amit Shah personally reviewing security protocols. “The regular advisories from the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board further ensure a safe experience,” he added.
Uttar Pradesh Also Sees High Pilgrim Interest
From Lucknow, Ajay Khanna, president of Shri Gaurishankar Amarnath Seva Organisation, noted, “Devotees are more eager than ever. The fear that this year’s yatra would be affected has proven baseless. Faith in Lord Shiva has only intensified.”
He further added, “Mahadev’s devotees are undeterred. Be it natural disasters during Char Dham or terror threats here, faith has only grown stronger. We’re registering hundreds of yatris daily.”
Nationwide Registrations Continue to Surge
Across India, between 200 to 500 devotees are registering daily for the pilgrimage through the official Shri Amarnath Shrine Board portal at https://jksasb.nic.in. The surge is a testament to the spiritual resilience of devotees and their trust in national security.
Tightened Security Under Home Ministry Supervision
Post-Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir security agencies have been placed on high alert. Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan in Jammu, ensuring top-down preparedness. The meeting included key figures such as Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and heads of various security and intelligence agencies.
Their directive was clear: the yatra must proceed peacefully, safely, and in an organized manner.
With renewed faith, solid administrative backing, and heightened security, Amarnath Yatra 2025 is shaping up to be not just a religious journey but a symbol of collective national will and devotion.
