
Udaipur : Amid anguish and outrage against increasing sexual assaults on women and girls, another incident of child rape in Chittorgarh has come as a shock for the police. A 5-year old child who had gone to buy milk from a nearby shop was raped by a neighbourhood youth. Police arrested the accused Dalchand (30) so Meghraj Bhil at the identification of the rape survivor who is hospitalized and out of danger, SP Chittorgarh Anil Kayal informed.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Mohar Mangri area under Kotwali police station limits. The child’s parents are labourers who live in kachhi basti. It was a routine for the child to go to the shop to buy milk and on Wednesday too when she went to the shop, the accused took her to a deserted area and abused her. When the child didn’t return for long her mother went out looking for her and found her in a pitiable condition. The couple rushed to the police station around 5 pm however they alleged that the policemen kept them waiting and didn’t take the complaint seriously. Finally it was around 9.30pm when an FIR was registered and the child was taken for medical examination that confirmed the sexual assault to have taken place.
