25th Tripartite Committee Meet Focuses on Mine Safety

Udaipur, February 24, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran)Hindustan Zinc Limited successfully organised the 25th Tripartite Committee meeting under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Udaipur. The meeting focused on the health, safety and welfare of people working in mines.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director General of Mines Safety (North-West Region) R.T. Mandekar, Hindustan Zinc Chief Executive Officer Arun Misra and Hindustan Zinc Workers Federation General Secretary K.S. Shaktawat. The session was chaired by CEO Arun Misra, during which the committee held detailed discussions on strengthening safety practices and enhancing standards in the mining sector.

During the meeting, R.T. Mandekar emphasised the importance of prioritising ventilation in mines. He underlined the need for annual action plans, effective implementation and accident and near-miss analysis presentations with measurable outcomes. He stated that the annual meeting would further reinforce a culture of safety initiatives across all operations.

Addressing the gathering, Arun Misra said that safety remains the highest priority at Hindustan Zinc. He noted that the learnings from the tripartite meeting organised with DGMS provide valuable insights to strengthen mine safety and support the company’s vision of zero-harm operations. He added that with continuous adaptation and the support of the Workers Federation and DGMS, the company is moving towards making its mining operations safer, smarter and sustainable.

Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company and India’s largest and only integrated producer of zinc and silver, reiterated its commitment to achieving zero harm at the workplace. The Tripartite Committee meeting served as an important platform to promote collaboration, unify collective efforts and further strengthen a safe working environment in the mining sector.
