(Udaipur Kiran News): YouTube has announced the expansion of its Premium Lite pilot plan to India, offering viewers a lower-cost option to watch most videos without ads. The plan is priced at ₹89 per month, aiming to provide an affordable alternative for users seeking an ad-free experience.
The Premium Lite plan works seamlessly across phones, laptops, and TVs and removes ads from most videos. However, ads will still appear on music content, YouTube Shorts, and during search and browsing.
Users who want a completely ad-free experience — including YouTube Music, offline downloads, and background play — will need to subscribe to the full YouTube Premium plan.
The rollout follows YouTube’s announcement that YouTube Music and Premium have collectively surpassed 125 million subscribers globally, including trial users. The company said Premium Lite is designed for viewers who primarily want ad-free video streaming at a more affordable price.
Since the launch of YouTube Music and Premium, the platform has introduced various plans to meet different viewer preferences. YouTube said Premium Lite continues that approach while allowing creators and partners to earn revenue through diverse models.
YouTube highlighted that its platform offers a wide variety of content, including dramas, podcasts, and live gaming streams. With Premium Lite, Indian viewers can now enjoy most of this content without interruptions, choosing a plan that fits their budget.
The new plan is being rolled out gradually and will be available across India in the coming weeks.
