Jaipur, April 3, 2025 — A shift in weather conditions across Rajasthan was observed on Thursday as light rain and strong winds affected several districts due to a western disturbance. Cities such as Kota, Karauli, Alwar, Sikar, and Jhalawar reported scattered rainfall and gusty winds. While the rain brought brief relief, meteorological officials forecast the onset of a heatwave across western Rajasthan from April 5.
Temperature Spikes in Western Rajasthan
Barmer recorded the highest daytime temperature at 42.4°C, while Phalodi experienced the warmest night with a low of 25.4°C. Jaisalmer wasn’t far behind, registering 41.1°C during the day. Six other cities reported maximum temperatures nearing 39°C, signaling an early surge in summer heat.
Meteorological reports indicated that night temperatures in 10 cities, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, and Bikaner, remained above 20°C, confirming a warmer-than-usual climate pattern across the state.
Jaipur Weather Sees Shift with Cloud Cover and Winds
In Jaipur, partly cloudy skies and light winds dominated throughout the day. Night temperatures in the capital rose by 3.6°C, reaching 24°C, while the daytime high dropped slightly by 0.7°C, settling at 36.2°C. The city experienced noticeable weather fluctuation due to persistent cloud movement, which is expected to change in the coming days as temperatures rise.
Meteorological Center Issues Heatwave Warning
According to Radhey Shyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center in Jaipur, isolated rainfall and thunderstorm activity were recorded in the Kota region, with Khanpur in Jhalawar witnessing 2.0 mm of rainfall—the highest in the state. Alwar registered the lowest minimum temperature at 12.5°C. Humidity levels across the state ranged between 15% and 55%.
With dry conditions expected to dominate starting April 5, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned residents of western Rajasthan to brace for rising temperatures and potential heatwave conditions.
