Himachal Pradesh: Extreme Cold and Frozen Water Bodies

The icy grip of winter continues to intensify in Himachal Pradesh, with sub-zero temperatures causing water in rivers and streams to freeze. Mid and high-altitude tribal areas are experiencing bone-chilling cold, with temperatures plummeting 14-18 degrees below freezing.

The biting cold has impacted hydropower generation as frozen streams and pipes have slowed water flow. However, Una recorded a relatively warmer temperature of 23.8°C during the day, while Bhuntar and other regions stayed around 1-2°C at night.
