Udaipur, March 5: The district-level Panch Gaurav Fair and Exhibition commenced on Thursday at Fatehsagar Lake, initiated by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s Panch Gaurav program. Under the guidance of District Collector Namit Mehta, the fair aims to showcase the district’s unique identity, natural resources, and cultural heritage. The event will run until March 7, featuring information and products related to the district’s Panch Gaurav. Cultural activities for the youth are also part of the program.
The fair was inaugurated by District Collector Namit Mehta, who cut the ribbon in the presence of Additional District Collector Jitendra Ojha and SDM Girwa Avula Sainikrishna. Punit Sharma, the member secretary of the Panch Gaurav program implementation committee, welcomed the guests. Collector Mehta inspected the stalls and provided necessary directions. The fair includes exhibitions and activities centered around the concepts of “One District, One Product” for marble and granite, “One District, One Crop” for custard apple, “One District, One Plant Species” for Mahua, “One District, One Sport” for swimming, and “One District, One Tourist Spot” for the development and preservation of Fatehsagar and Pichola.
The Horticulture Department set up stalls featuring custard apple products, while the Forest Department and Rajivika showcased information on Mahua products. The Tourism Department displayed information and promotional materials about major tourist spots, including Pichola and Fatehsagar. The District Industries Centre presented five stalls featuring various varieties of marble and granite available in the district. The Sports Department shared information related to swimming, and the Education Department exhibited artworks by winners of competitions held through the Panch Gaurav Literacy Club. Several officials, including Mukesh Saini, Deputy Conservator of Forests, and Shailendra Sharma, General Manager of the District Industries Centre, were present at the event.
Local artists used puppetry to explain the significance of the district’s Panch Gaurav, entertaining guests and the public alike. The Sports Department also organized a kayaking demonstration, where national and international-level athletes showcased their skills in Fatehsagar Lake under the guidance of Tanisk Patwa. The District Collector observed the event via a rescue boat.
Additionally, the fair features a food court where visitors can enjoy local delicacies, and a selfie point has been created for attendees to capture memories of the Panch Gaurav Fair and the natural beauty of the world-famous Fatehsagar Lake.
