Two Head Constables Caught Taking Bribe in Udaipur and Rajsamand

Udaipur, August 4 – In a major anti-corruption operation on Monday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Udaipur team caught two head constables red-handed while accepting bribes in separate cases. Sanjay Kumar Meena, a head constable at Udaipur’s Goverdhan Vilas police station, was caught taking ₹2,500, while Krishna Kumar Meena, reader to the station in-charge at Rajsamand’s Khamnor police station, was caught accepting ₹20,000 in bribe.

Two Head Constables Caught Taking Bribe

Bribe Taken to Avoid Beating and Assist with Bail

In the first case, ACB Udaipur arrested head constable Sanjay Kumar Meena while he was accepting ₹1,500 in bribe at the police station. He had demanded ₹2,500 from the family members of an accused in custody, in exchange for not beating the accused and for assisting with timely court production and bail. He asked for the remaining ₹1,000 to be paid at the court premises. The moment the complainant handed over the remaining amount, ACB officials trapped and arrested him.

Inspector Narpat Singh of ACB Udaipur stated that the accused had arrested a man in an illegal liquor case. When the man’s wife arrived at the station, the head constable told her that no harm would come to her husband and he would be presented in court soon — but demanded ₹2,500. She gave him ₹1,500 at the time, and agreed to deliver the remaining ₹1,000 at the court the next day. ACB officers arrested him as he accepted the remaining bribe. A search is also being conducted at his residence.

₹20,000 Bribe to Avoid Naming in Loot Case

In another case, ACB’s intelligence unit arrested Krishna Kumar Meena, the reader of the Khamnor station in Rajsamand, while he was taking ₹20,000 in bribe. The complainant had approached ACB, alleging that the head constable demanded ₹25,000 to ensure the complainant was not named as an accused in a loot case and to release his seized car. The complainant also stated that he had already been forced to pay ₹35,000 earlier through threats.

ACB Inspector Sonu Shekhawat and his team verified the complaint and confirmed the bribe demand. On Monday, they caught head constable Krishna Kumar red-handed while accepting ₹20,000. According to ACB, the involvement of the Khamnor Station House Officer will also be investigated in this matter.
