New Delhi, August 4: In a recent interview, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that negotiations regarding Iran are expected to reach a conclusion soon. He emphasized that it is not a difficult matter, mentioning the need to open the Strait of Hormuz completely by Tuesday.
Trump described the current discussions as the first phase, with a second phase focusing on nuclear issues, asserting a strict stance against Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons. He indicated that this is Iran’s last opportunity to sign a good agreement.
Earlier, Trump criticized Iranian leadership for being “double-faced,” claiming they plead for talks with the U.S. but publicly deny any negotiations once meetings are scheduled. He pointed out that despite Iran’s claims, the U.S. maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring that nothing reaches Iran unless the U.S. allows it.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump remarked on Iran’s contradictory statements, highlighting their requests for meetings while simultaneously asserting that no discussions are taking place. He reiterated that the U.S. Navy has full control over the region, and nothing can reach Iran without U.S. consent.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei dismissed Trump’s claims of “indirect talks,” stating that there are currently no plans to welcome any representatives or engage in discussions with the U.S.
