UDAIPUR, March 24: The Transport Department in Rajasthan continues its stringent campaign against tax defaulters. Tax Evasion Uncovered at Jhamar Kotra

Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Gyandev Vishwakarma stated that the enforcement action began early Monday morning. Additional RTO Nanji Ram Gulsar and DTO Nitin Bohra led the inspection team to the Jhamar Kotra mining site. During the operation, they identified 29 vehicles from Rajasthan operating without paying due taxes and 10 vehicles from other states.

Upon verifying documents, the team confirmed that these vehicles had not paid the requisite state taxes. Immediate penalties were levied, and the vehicles were impounded on the spot.

Massive State-Wide Enforcement in Last 24 Hours

In addition to the action at the mine, the Transport Department’s 15 flying squads, along with district transport officers, conducted surprise checks across the Udaipur transport region within the last 24 hours. A total of 522 vehicles were fined, with ₹15 lakh in penalties recovered. 327 vehicles were seized for various rule violations.

RTO Vishwakarma revealed that the Udaipur region has already achieved 82% of its allocated revenue target for the financial year 2024–25, underlining the department’s focus on strict tax compliance.

Tougher Measures Against Tax Evaders

In a strong warning to vehicle owners evading taxes, RTO Vishwakarma directed all district officers and flying squad leaders to adopt a tougher stance. He emphasized that not only will outstanding taxes be collected with interest and penalties, but violations of permit conditions will also be added to challans. This could result in an additional ₹10,000 in penalties per vehicle.
