
Rajsamand : A taut situation flared up in Rajnagar of Rajsamand on Thursday night when four youths from a locality allegedly thrashed two boys. The event led to widespread disturbance, with people hitting the streets and damaging vehicles. While the two injured boys were taken to RK Hospital for treatment and later discharged, the situation went further downhill as a mob turned violent.
Rajsamand SP Manish Tripathi said that Rahul and Krishna of Yadav Mohalla in Rajnagar were attacked by four youths of a neighboring locality carrying sticks as they were sitting on the platform near Mamu Bhanj Road around 8:15 PM on Thursday. According to the SP, the attack was over a previous incident wherein an accused had spat on Rahul during a function, for which Rahul had filed an earlier complaint.
The attack had sparked further anger in the community of victims, and the situation deteriorated when the two boys were attacked. At around 9:30 PM they were taken to RK Hospital because of minor injuries. By 10 pm, the mob had gathered and started damaging vehicles in the Thokar area.
Since the incident occurred close to Rajnagar police station, policemen acted very promptly and dispersed the crowd. When mobbing was further escalating, five police stations were called in to manage mobs and avoid any disturbances.
An FIR has been lodged against the accused. The police have also constituted different teams to investigate the case. The police are beefing up the patrolling in the locality too. The SP said the residents should maintain peace and harmony in the locality.
Demolition Notice Issued
In a surprise twist, the Municipal Commissioner, Brajesh Rai, has served a demolition notice on the houses of two brothers – accused of murder. The reason is that the house is in a dilapidated condition and likely to prove hazardous for public safety. They have been given three days’ time to demolish the structures or face action under the Municipal Act.
