Mumbai, May 24 – Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Harrier EV, its flagship electric SUV, on June 3, 2025, and the vehicle has now been spotted completely undisguised on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, signaling that final road testing is underway. This marks Tata’s fourth all-electric offering in the Indian market and its most premium EV to date.
First revealed in production form at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Harrier EV is positioned to rival Mahindra’s upcoming XUV.e9, and it will sit above Tata’s Curvv EV in the company’s growing electric portfolio.

Tata’s Expanding EV Portfolio
Tata Motors currently leads India’s mass-market EV segment with offerings like the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, and the best-selling Nexon EV. The recently introduced Curvv EV adds a premium touch to the lineup, but the Harrier EV will push that envelope further, becoming the brand’s top-tier electric model.
Exterior Styling and Charging Placement
Design-wise, the Harrier EV largely mirrors its ICE sibling, retaining its bold SUV stance. Key EV-specific updates include:
-
A blanked-off front grille
-
A reworked lower air dam
-
Sleek aero-optimized alloy wheels
-
Updated skid plates
The latest spy shots also reveal that the charging port is located on the right rear fender, a placement similar to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version. While roof-mounted lighting and side cladding have been seen in earlier teasers, the test unit lacked these, suggesting they may be optional accessories.
Powertrain and Performance
The Harrier EV is expected to offer a claimed range of approximately 500 kilometers on a full charge. It will feature an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, branded by Tata as QWD (Quad-Wheel Drive), ensuring enhanced traction and performance. This drivetrain setup will be a first for Tata’s electric portfolio, highlighting its intent to compete in the premium EV space.
Premium Interior and Feature Set
Inside the cabin, the Harrier EV will borrow many elements from its ICE counterpart but will be packed with high-end tech and convenience features, including:
-
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
-
Panoramic sunroof
-
360-degree surround-view camera
-
Ventilated front seats
-
Automatic climate control with capacitive touch interface
-
Dual digital screens, seamlessly integrating infotainment and driver instrumentation
Additionally, the EV is expected to support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functions—allowing users to power external devices or charge another EV—making it one of the most technologically advanced models in its class.
Launch and Market Impact
Tata Motors will officially unveil the Harrier EV on June 3, with pricing and variant details to follow. As India’s electric vehicle segment continues to evolve, the Harrier EV is poised to be a game-changer in the premium electric SUV space, combining Tata’s robust design language with a focus on advanced electrification and technology.
