ASI Kanhaialal bribery case

According to Smita Srivastava, Director General of Police, ACB, a complaint was filed alleging that ASI Kanhaialal, the investigating officer in a case registered against the complainant at Kotwali Police Station, was demanding a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh through his middleman Majlish Khan. The bribe was sought in exchange for submitting a Final Report (FR) in the case and presenting it before the court in the complainant’s favour.

After receiving the complaint, a verification process was carried out on October 14, 2025, during which the demand was confirmed. It was found that the accused, through his associate, had agreed to accept ₹1.3 lakh for preparing and submitting the favourable FR.

Subsequently, under the supervision of DIG (First) Rajesh Singh, and the leadership of Additional SP Mahendra Kumar (TLO), the ACB team conducted a trap operation on October 15, 2025. During the operation, Majlish Khan accepted ₹1,30,000 from the complainant and handed it over to ASI Kanhaialal at his office in Kotwali Police Station, Alwar, where both were caught red-handed.

The bribe money was recovered from the drawer of the ASI’s office table inside the investigation room at the police station.

Both accused have been detained for questioning, and further proceedings are underway. The ACB has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and initiated a detailed investigation.
