Udaipur, 11 August 2025 – Under the supervision of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur, and on the directions of DLSA Udaipur Chairperson Gyan Prakash, DLSA Secretary and ADJ Kuldeep Sharma conducted a surprise inspection of the Udaipur Central Jail.

During the visit, Sharma interacted with inmates and inquired about legal aid, appeals, parole, and other facilities being provided inside the jail.
Jail Superintendent Rajpal Singh informed that first-time inmates are introduced to various facilities such as meeting arrangements, canteen, medical care, legal aid, telephone services, and more under an orientation programme. As per the directives of the DG (Prisons), Jaipur, the fifth number in the STD facility has been added as a helpline to directly register grievances with the prison headquarters.
He further stated that a timetable is followed for inmate activities, and timely resolution of grievances is ensured. The inspection found the kitchen clean, food of high quality and adequate quantity, and overall hygiene well-maintained. The DLSA is providing free legal aid, including LADCs (Legal Aid Defence Counsels), and appeals are being filed promptly.
Deputy Superintendent Mohan Meena was also present during the inspection.
