New Delhi, May 2: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi met with Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, on Friday in New Delhi. The discussions focused on the current global strategic situation, enhancing defense cooperation, and military collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) shared on social media platform ‘X’, “Lieutenant General Edward Asryan met COAS General Upendra Dwivedi. The talks emphasized strengthening India-Armenia defense cooperation, increasing military partnerships, and collaboration in areas of mutual interest.”
Lieutenant General Asryan, who is on an official visit to India, had previously met with Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh to discuss issues related to defense cooperation.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense posted on ‘X’, stating, “During the visit to India, Armenian Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Edward Asryan met with India’s Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. The discussions centered on defense cooperation between the two countries.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Lieutenant General Asryan also met with Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Chief of the Indian Air Force. The meeting focused on enhancing operational cooperation, strengthening interoperability, and improving relations at the air force level.
The Indian Air Force’s Media Coordination Center reported on ‘X’, “Lieutenant General Edward Asryan met with Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh. The discussions focused on operational cooperation, interoperability, and strengthening bilateral air power relations.”
According to the Armenian Ministry of Defense, this meeting also covered issues related to defense collaboration between the two nations. Additionally, Lieutenant General Asryan met with Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan to explore the possibilities of joint projects in military equipment development.
