Scholarship Opportunity for Students
Mumbai, October 26: The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) offers a significant opportunity for economically disadvantaged students to receive a scholarship of ₹12,000 annually for the academic year 2026-27. Eligible students can apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) until October 31, 2026.
This initiative aims to prevent students from dropping out of school after the eighth grade due to financial constraints. The government provides scholarships to one lakh deserving students each year. Those who pass the selection examination will receive ₹12,000 per year, credited directly to their bank accounts, which continues through grades 10, 11, and 12 upon meeting academic requirements.
To qualify for this scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
School Type: Students must be enrolled in state government, government-aided, or local body schools.
Family Income: The total annual income of the student’s parents should not exceed ₹3.50 lakh from all sources.
Academic Marks: Candidates must have at least 55% marks in class 7 (a 5% relaxation is available for SC/ST students).
Selection Exam: Students must pass the NMMSS selection examination conducted by their respective state or union territory.
The selection exam consists of two main parts, MAT (Mental Ability Test) and SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), which are crucial for determining eligibility for the scholarship.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to pursue their education without financial worries.
