Last week, Samsung rolled out the One UI 6.1 update for older Galaxy devices. Following the release of the AI-focused software update, several users complained online that it caused touchscreen issues on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra models. Some users claim that after updating to One UI 6.1, their screen no longer responds to touch at all. On Wednesday (April 3), Samsung finally recognized the problem and offered a solution. The Korean brand said the issue was due to compatibility issues with some Google app features.

According to user reports on Reddit and the company’s support forums, some Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra owners are experiencing unreliable touch inputs after the One UI 6.1 update. In a post on Samsung Korea’s support forum, the company confirmed the touchscreen error and provided a workaround for the issue. According to Samsung, the Google Discover feed causes touchscreen performance issues on Galaxy S23 series smartphones.
Samsung recommends affected users temporarily update the Google app to the latest version via Google Play, clear app data and restart the device to resolve the issue. To clear app storage, tap Settings > Apps > Google > Storage > Clear data. It says Google is working to fix this issue.
The One UI 6.1 update rolled out globally last March for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and last year’s Galaxy Tab S9 series. Some users have complained that the update caused loading issues and fingerprint scanner issues on Galaxy S23 models.
The artificial intelligence-based One UI 6.1 was introduced in January at the launch of the Galaxy S24 series. As part of the Galaxy AI experience, we are adding several AI-enabled features. These include Live Translation, Chat Help, Notes Help, and Search Circle.
