RP Singh Demands Immediate Resignation of Bhagwant Mann Following Akal Takht Summons
New Delhi: BJP national spokesperson RP Singh has issued a strong statement regarding Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that the summons issued to the Chief Minister by the Akal Takht Sahib secretariat is not a routine or formal procedure. Instead, it is a serious and extraordinary allegation of repeated disrespect towards the highest Sikh temporal seat and Sikh code of conduct.
In a post on the social media platform X, RP Singh stated that even though some videos circulating on social media remain unverified, the words and conduct of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann alone are enough to deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. He emphasized that no form of comedy, intoxication, or arrogance can justify disrespect towards the supreme temporal authority of the Sikh faith.
The BJP spokesperson accused the Chief Minister of mocking faith, attempting to weaken Sikh institutions, and then avoiding accountability by hiding behind his constitutional position. According to Singh, such a Chief Minister is unfit to govern Punjab. He described this behaviour as an abuse of power, calling it not only condemnable but also against the dignity of the state.
RP Singh further said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who has lost moral and ethical legitimacy, should immediately resign from his post. He added that Punjab deserves leadership marked by dignity and respect, not insult and controversy. Singh also mentioned that as per the instructions from the Akal Takht Sahib secretariat, Bhagwant Mann has been asked to appear before the secretariat on January 15 at 10 a.m.
The BJP spokesperson also noted that the alleged clips circulating on social media are extremely shameful and sacrilegious, which is why they are not being shared.
