
Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom service provider, recently announced a 12-27% increase in mobile tariffs. The previous rate hike was announced in December 2021 and is the first hike in more than two and a half years.
The company also made changes to its free, unlimited 5G service for subscribers. The company has increased mobile fees for almost all tariffs.
Competitors Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea followed Reliance Jio and announced similar price hikes.
According to TRAI data, Jio has more than 470 billion mobile subscribers, accounting for 41% of the market share.
“The launch of the new program is a step towards accelerating innovation in the industry and driving sustainable growth through investments in 5G and artificial intelligence technologies,” said Akash M. “We will continue to invest in India and our country and ours Always put customers first,” Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Ambani said in a statement.
Reliance Jio has increased the prices of its mobile services from July 3. Here is a summary of the changes:
- Minimum recharge: Increased from Rs 15 to Rs 19 (increase by 27%) for 1GB data add-on.
- Postpaid plans: 75GB plan increases from Rs 399 to Rs 449.
- Popular Unlimited Plan: The 84-day unlimited data plan, which previously cost Rs 666, now costs Rs 799 (20% increase).
- Annual plans: Prices have increased by 20-21%, with the Rs 1,559 plan now costing Rs 1,899 and the Rs 2,999 plan costing Rs 3,599.
- Medium-term plans: Expect a price increase of 19-21% for these plans.
