Rajasthan Weather Update: Western Disturbance to Bring Rain, Thunderstorms From April 2

Jaipur, March 31 – Rajasthan is set to witness a shift in weather conditions as a fresh Western Disturbance becomes active from April 2, bringing cloud cover, light rainfall, and thunderstorms to several parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jaipur, has issued yellow alerts for 7 districts on April 2 and 11 districts on April 3 in anticipation of weather disruptions.

Cool Mornings Continue, Rain Likely From April 2

Despite rising daytime temperatures, cold mornings and evenings persisted in Rajasthan due to the impact of northerly winds. On Sunday, minimum temperatures dipped below 10°C in three cities, with Fatehpur recording the lowest at 8.2°C, followed by Baran at 9.3°C and Mount Abu at 9.4°C.

The IMD forecasts that similar conditions will continue for the next two days, before the active western disturbance starts affecting weather patterns. Cloudy skies and light rain with thunder are expected from April 2 to 4 over Udaipur, Kota, Jaipur, and Ajmer divisions.

Daytime Temperatures Rise Across the State

The past 24 hours remained largely dry, though wind speeds declined slightly compared to Saturday, leading to a 1–3°C rise in daytime temperatures in several areas. Barmer recorded the highest maximum temperature at 37.4°C, closely followed by:

• Chittorgarh: 37.2°C

• Kota: 36°C

• Pilani: 35°C

• Jodhpur & Jaisalmer: 35.8°C

• Bikaner: 35.2°C

• Churu: 34.4°C

• Sri Ganganagar: 34.3°C

• Jaipur: 33.8°C

While Jaipur remained clear for most of the day, light cloud cover developed by evening, keeping the heat mild.

Rain and Temperature Surge Expected

According to the IMD, southeastern Rajasthan will remain cloudy from March 31 to April 3. Thunderstorms and light rainfall are likely in:

• Udaipur & Kota divisions on April 2

• Jaipur, Ajmer & Kota divisions on April 3

By April 3 and 4, parts of western Rajasthan may see maximum temperatures touching 41–42°C, which would be 2–3°C above normal. Both minimum and maximum temperatures are projected to rise by 4–6°C in the coming 4 to 5 days.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert

The yellow alert issued by the Jaipur Meteorological Centre indicates potential disruptions due to weather activity. Citizens in the affected districts are advised to:

• Be prepared for sudden temperature changes and localised rain events
