Jaipur, January 5 – Rajasthan is witnessing an unusually warm start to January, with daytime temperatures resembling those typically seen in February. On Saturday, the state experienced bright sunshine throughout the day, with the maximum temperature soaring to 31°C in several regions. Notably, nine districts recorded temperatures above 29°C, signaling a significant departure from usual winter conditions.
Western Disturbance to Bring Rain in Bikaner Division
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Center, the impact of an active western disturbance over North India is expected to be felt in Bikaner division today. Districts such as Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Bikaner may witness cloudy skies with chances of light rain or drizzle.
From January 6, a shift in weather patterns is anticipated, with temperatures expected to drop. The arrival of cold northern winds will likely cause a 2-3°C dip in both day and night temperatures, intensifying the chill across the state.
Saturday’s Weather Recap: Chittorgarh Records Highest Temperature at 31.2°C
Over the past 24 hours, Rajasthan recorded a significant rise in temperatures. Several cities, including Churu, Baran, Kota, and Pilani, saw maximum temperatures increase by 2-5°C. The highest temperature was recorded in Chittorgarh, where the mercury touched 31.2°C. Other notable temperature readings included:
- Churu, Dungarpur: 30.6°C
- Ajmer: 29.6°C
- Bhilwara: 29.2°C
- Udaipur: 29.5°C
- Barmer, Jodhpur: 29.4°C
- Fatehpur: 29.7°C
- Jalore: 28.9°C
In Jaipur, Pilani, Sikar, and Phalodi, temperatures hovered between 27°C and 28°C. Jaipur, in particular, saw bright sunshine throughout the day. The lack of northern winds reduced the chill, leading to a mild, almost warm afternoon where people could be seen shedding layers of winter clothing.

Looking ahead, light rainfall is expected in Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, and Hanumangarh today. From January 7-8, the weather is predicted to remain dry, but the return of cold northern winds will lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures, increasing the intensity of winter across the state.
Additionally, on January 6, a yellow alert for dense fog has been issued for six districts. Commuters are advised to exercise caution during early morning hours due to reduced visibility.
