Jaipur, May 12, 2025 — Rajasthan continues to witness dramatic weather shifts, with several districts experiencing rain and hailstorms, while others battle intensifying heat and dry winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Kota, Baran, and Jhalawar for Monday, citing the possibility of thunderstorms, light rainfall, lightning, and winds up to 40 km/h.

🌩️ Storms Bring Relief in Southern Rajasthan
On Sunday, weather conditions in the Hadoti region took a sharp turn. After a humid and hot morning, rain and strong winds swept through Kota, Baran, and nearby areas by afternoon, continuing into the evening. Roads were flooded in places, and a noticeable drop in temperature brought temporary relief.
In Hanumangarh, Nagaur, Chittorgarh, Bikaner, and Jodhpur, gusty winds, thunderstorms, and rainfall were reported later in the day. Hailstorms were recorded in parts of Hanumangarh and Nagaur.
⚠️ Lightning Tragedy in Udaipur
A tragic incident occurred in Udaipur’s Vallabhnagar area, where a woman was struck and killed by lightning while grazing goats in a field. Another person was reportedly injured in the same event. Authorities have reiterated warnings to avoid open spaces during storms and to disconnect electronic devices when lightning is expected.
🔥 Heatwave Looms in Western Rajasthan
While some districts were drenched, clear skies and hot sun dominated in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Pali, and Jalore. Light, hot winds during the afternoon increased the discomfort.
Looking ahead, the IMD has forecasted the onset of heatwave conditions starting May 14–15 in parts of Rajasthan. Maximum temperatures in certain areas are expected to reach 44–45°C, posing serious health risks.
🛑 IMD Advisory and Precautionary Measures
Residents, especially in storm-prone areas, are advised to:
Avoid sheltering under trees or near electric poles during lightning
Disconnect all electronic devices during thunderstorms
Stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activity during peak heat hours
