Jaipur, May 20 – Rajasthan is currently in the grip of an intense heatwave, with nine cities, including Jaipur, witnessing temperatures soaring past the 44°C mark. Cities like Pilani, Churu, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Tonk, Barmer, Dausa, and Jaisalmer are experiencing extreme heat conditions, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue alerts.

Orange Alert Issued for Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh
As temperatures climb, the Bikaner division is set to face severe heat for the next couple of days. On Tuesday, the IMD issued an orange alert for Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sri Ganganagar, and Hanumangarh districts, warning residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
No Relief Till May 22
Despite isolated pre-monsoon showers in parts of southern Rajasthan, no significant relief is expected from the extreme heat at least till May 22, particularly in the northwestern belt. Meteorologists have warned of continued high temperatures and dry winds, especially in the arid regions of western Rajasthan.
Rain Brings Temporary Respite in Udaipur, Kota Divisions
While the north scorches, Udaipur and Kota divisions have witnessed light to moderate rainfall, offering a slight respite. The weather department has predicted continued rain and thunderstorms over the next three days in these regions.

Pilani (Jhunjhunu) emerged as the hottest spot in the state, with temperatures reaching a scorching 46.4°C, followed closely by Churu at 46°C, marking it as the hottest day of the season for both locations. Other cities also recorded alarming temperature levels:
